Is the school psychologist the person from whom to seek out a thorough clinical evaluation for ADHD? Who is the best person to do the clinical evaluation if neuropsych evals have so many false negatives for ADHD?

I love the idea of understanding the why you different with a handy answer to reply assertively when asked about – I kinda always say that my dyslexia is good medicine for those around me as it often has us all bursting into laughter cause I tend to swop words like carbage and cabbage …. and its a scientific fact that laughter is good for you – so I am good for you – my dyslexia is good for me 😉 Anyhoo my ADHD takes me on rabbit trails now – I think what I take from this is that I should help my son understand this and help him voice assertively why its okay that he has and how it is cool that he has … thank you.

Can we get some books that Roberto recommends please?

Yeah, I’d love that, too! How do you KNOW which books, experts etc. get it right? What about Russel Barkely, e.g.?

I have the same question. Especially for the case where we parents do NOT have ADHD or executive function issues but wind up with a child who is SO different from what we know, it would be very helpful to have some reliable go to sources of information to learn & understand. I found some lectures by Russell Barkley on Youtube and LOVED how technical he gets about the ADHD brain & the neuroscience, but then I heard from others about his medical deficit model approach to actual treatment, so then I am left with doubts about whether he ought to be my goto! He does come across as a huge proponent of medication.:-/

    Hi Roberto,

What books on ADHD (or dyslexia) would you recommend?
