“Listen to your child” and making sure your child is “emotionally safe”! WOW – thank you, I needed to hear that today. To know that I am doing the right thing when so many people around me don’t understand this journey and how important those two things are in this process.

Thanks so much for this information shared by dr Treteault. I love how the applies the fuctions of the brain to the gifted child and to what we experience in our day to day with our kids. Its incredibly enlightening and useful to understand my child’s behaviour from this point of view. I personally love to understand the nitty gritty of why things are the way they are. I am working through a difficult time with my 11yr old and I fry my brain trying to get to the cause and know how to approach it…should I push, should I let go, unschool, play math games or what. Her introduction is so spot on when she states that we many times are so pressurized by where they should be that we don’t see why they are disengaged.
I have listened twice to her to get all she explains and I think there is a lot of insight given here to help us deal with the reality we face.
Tx sooooo much Debbie and dr Treteault!!

So glad you gave it two listenings to get all of her wisdom, Silmara! Dr. Tetreault’s work around gifted brains is so valuable, especially when she talked about the brain expansion in 9-14 year old age range and how that affects memory systems and executive functioning. Good stuff!

      It’s a constant inner battle between should-I-push vs. should-I-let-go for me…

Now I think of it, it must have been really, physically hurting my son’s ears when he complained about high pitched noise or voice.
I though he was exaggerating.. ?
